Difference between teaser and theatrical trailer?

Difference between teaser and theatrical trailer?

There are two types of trailers. One of which is a teaser trailer and the other a theatrical trailer.

A teaser trailer is to tease the audience and usually lasts up to a minute. They consist of minimal visuals and dialogue in order to not give too much of the movie away. A teaser trailer is a good way to build anticipation as it leaves the audience wondering ‘what’s next?’ ‘What’s going to happen?’

A teaser doesn’t reveal any significant plot and only shows a glimpse of the background of the movie.

A theatrical trailer is a longer version of a trailer and it provides more details about the plot of the movie in the trailer. Usually theatrical trailers are released closer to the release date of the film. This type of trailer offers the leading actors name and directors.

A theatrical trailer really sells the movie to the audience as it contains a lot of detail and presents the genre very clearly to the audience as the trailer is usually up to 2.30mins.

The trailer that I’ll be making is a theatrical trailer as I believe I can be more creative with it and get the audience more engaged on a wider scale.
